I made these quick and easy fingerless gloves
in less than 2 hours last night. I wanted to try something different and the
idea for the long stitches came from reading an older crochet book on edgings.
I am very happy with the look and even happier to wear my fingerless gloves.
They have become my favorite article of clothing to wear throughout chilly
season. I do not need to take them off to drive, shop or even crochet. hahaha!
The pattern is very simple to understand even for beginners. Follow the you
tube link for a video on how to add the longer detail stitches.
Chunky Yarn Fingerless Gloves
I used a double crochet foundation chain of 17 dcs to start. If you prefer, you can crochet a chain of 20 and dc into 3rd ch and each stitch across. (17dc)
Row 1: sl st into top of first ch3, this makes a circle. Make certain the chain is not twisted. Ch2, dc into joining st and each st around. (17dc+ch2)
Row 2-6: sl st into first dc, ch2, dc into joining st, dc in ea st around. (17dc+ch2)
Left glove; Row 7: sl st into first dc, ch2, dc into joining st, dc 3x, ch 2, skip two stitches (thumb hole), dc in last 12 dcs. (15dc+ch2, ch2+2skipped st)
Right glove; Row 7: slst into first dc, ch2, dc into joining st, dc 12x, ch2, skip two stitches (thumb hole), dc in last three dcs. (15dc+ch2,ch2+2 skipped st)
Row 8: slst into first dc, ch2, dc in joining st, dc in each st around, 2dcs in the thumb hole. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Accent color: sc around bottom of gloves. Use the video link for info on the long stitches. Fasten off and weave in ends. http://youtu.be/Z9hdHXskCno
